Crestline's 110' long turntable. When the roundhouse was built in 1918-20, the length of the turntable was 100'. Sometime in the mid 1940's, the turntable was lengthened to 110'. Crestline was the home for the experimental steam engines (S-1, S-2, Q-1) as well as the T-1 and Q-2 duplex locomotives. These last two classes had a wheel base of over 107', so this necessitated a longer turntable. All of the "big steam" could be turned on the longer turntable except the S-1, which was over 146' long! This engine was turned on the "wye", which was west of the roundhouse. 1988. (Photo courtesy of Matt Link)
